“ลอนเทนนิส” เจ้าภาพประชุมใหญ่
สมาชิกเอเชียเลือกประธานคนใหม่

       นายสุชัย พรชัยศักดิ์อุดม นายกสมาคมกีฬาลอนเทนนิสแห่งประเทศไทย ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ เปิดเผยว่า ประเทศไทย โดยสมาคมกีฬาลอนเทนนิสแห่งประเทศไทยฯ จะเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุมใหญ่สามัญประจำปี ค.ศ.2023 ของ สหพันธ์เทนนิสแห่งเอเชีย (เอทีเอฟ) ณ โรงแรมอินเตอร์คอนติเนนตัล กรุงเทพฯ ในวันที่ 12 ธันวาคม 2566
       การประชุมครั้งนี้มีวาระสำคัญคือ การเลือกตั้งประธานสหพันธ์ฯ คนใหม่ พร้อมด้วยคณะกรรมการบริหารสหพันธ์ฯ ชุดใหม่ (วาระ 2023 - 2027) แทนชุดเก่าที่หมดวาระลง โดยมีผู้แทนจากประเทศสมาชิกของสหพันธ์ฯ จากทั่วเอเชีย เดินทางมาร่วมประชุม จำนวน 42 ประเทศ
       "ในโอกาสนี้ยังได้รับเกียรติจาก มร.เดวิด ฮักเกอร์ตี้ ประธานสหพันธ์เทนนิสนานาชาติ หรือ ไอทีเอฟ ชาวอเมริกัน จะเดินทางมาร่วมประชุมด้วย โดย มร.เดวิด ฮักเกอร์ตี้ เพิ่งได้รับการเลือกตั้งให้ดำรงตำแหน่งประธาน ไอทีเอฟ อีกสมัย ในการประชุมใหญ่สามัญประจำปีของ ไอทีเอฟ เมื่อเดือน ก.ย. ที่ผ่านมา" นายสุชัย กล่าว
       นายกสมาคมกีฬาลอนเทนนิสฯ กล่าวว่า นอกจากผู้แทนแต่ละประเทศที่มาร่วมประชุมแล้ว ยังมีผู้ติดตามอีกจำนวนไม่น้อย ซึ่งทั้งหมดจะเดินทางมาล่วงหน้า และบางคนอาจจะอยู่ต่อ จึงคาดว่าการประชุมครั้งนี้ นอกจากจะมีเรื่องดี ๆ สำหรับวงการกีฬาเทนนิสเอเชียแล้ว น่าจะส่งผลดีต่อประเทศไทยในเรื่องการท่องเที่ยวและการจับจ่ายใช้สอยของผู้มาเยือนอีกด้วย
       อนึ่ง ปัจจุบัน สหพันธ์เทนนิสแห่งเอเชีย (เอทีเอฟ) มี นายกิตตน์สมบัติ เอื้อมมงคล อดีตนายกสมาคมกีฬาลอนเทนนิสแห่งประเทศไทยฯ เป็นประธาน (วาระ 2019 - 2023) โดยเป็นคนแรกของประเทศไทยที่ได้ดำรงตำแหน่งนี้.

LTAT to host the major meeting,
Asian members to elect the new President

Mr. Suchai Ponchaisakudom, President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand Under His Majesty’s Patronage (LTAT) announced that Thailand will host the 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) at the InterContinental Hotel, Bangkok on 12 December 2023.

This meeting has an important agenda: The election of a new President of the Federation and Federation Executive Committee (4-year term, 2023–2027) to replace the outgoing ones. With representatives from the 42 member countries of the Federation from all over Asia travel to attend the meeting.

“On this occasion, we are also honoured by the presence of Mr. David Haggerty, President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Mr. David Haggerty has just been re-elected President of the ITF at the ITF Annual General Meeting last September,” said Mr Suchai.

President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand Under His Majesty’s Patronage, said that in addition to representatives from each country attending the meeting, there will be a few companions. All will come in advance and some people may stay. So it is expected that this meeting will not only be good for the Asian tennis world, but will also have a positive impact on Thailand in terms of tourism and visitor spending.

Currently, Mr. Kitsombat Euammongkol, former president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand Under His Majesty’s Patronage, is the first Thai to serve as president of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) for the 2019–2023 term.
